| Summary, etc | ภาษาสันสกฤตเป็นภาษาเก่าแก่ภาษาหนึ่งในกลุ่มภาษาตระกูล อินโด-ยุโรป มีความเป็นมาร่วมกับหลายภาษาในโลก เช่น ภาษาอังกฤษ ภาษาละติน ภาษาเยอรมัน หรือในบางกรณีก็เป็นที่มาของภาษาหลาย ภาษาในโลกด้วยเช่นกัน ทั้งภาษาที่อยู่ในตระกูลเดียวกันและคนละตระกูล เช่น ภาษาไทยแม้จะอยู่ตระกูลคำโดดแต่ก็ได้ยืมคำและสร้างคำ จากภาษาสันสกฤตไว้มาก เนื่องด้วยอิทธิพลทางศาสนาและการเมืองที่มีเค้าความคิดมาจากอินเดีย คนไทยจึงคุ้นเคยกับภาษาสันสกฤตเป็นอย่างดี เช่นเดียวกับภาษาบาลีซึ่งเป็นภาษาสำคัญในพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทและอยู่ในตระกูลเดียวกับภาษาสันสกฤต คนไทยมักเรียกกันติดปากว่า บาลี-สันสกฤต ภาษาสันสกฤตมีสถานะสูงในสังคมไทย ในขณะเดียวกัน ก็กลมกลืนกับภาษาไทยจนบางครั้งคนไทยไม่รู้สึกว่ากำลังใช้ภาษาสันสกฤตอยู่. |
